Rafael Garc\u00eca Flores, 48 ans, vit aujourd\u2019hui \u00e0 Detroit aux \u00c9tats-Unis avec ses deux jeunes enfants. Il y a quelques ann\u00e9es, sa femme a demand\u00e9 le divorce et s\u2019est ensuite remari\u00e9e avec un autre homme. Un \u00e9v\u00e9nement douloureux pour Rafael qui a trouv\u00e9 un refuge et un soutien dans le regard de la Vierge Marie et dans le Seigneur.<\/p>\n

Si Rafael \u00e9tait \u00ab\u00a0un catholique du dimanche\u00a0\u00bb, cette s\u00e9paration a marqu\u00e9 un tournant dans sa vie de foi et l\u2019a conduit \u00e0 un changement radical. \u00ab\u00a0Cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 une vraie souffrance, mais depuis, une porte s\u2019est ouverte\u00a0: j\u2019ai cess\u00e9 de ne vivre ma foi que le dimanche, par tradition. Apr\u00e8s la douleur du divorce, la foi est devenue une conviction tr\u00e8s forte.<\/i>\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

Le jour du d\u00e9part de sa femme \u2013\u00a0un \u00e9v\u00e8nement totalement inattendu pour lui et ses enfants, alors \u00e2g\u00e9s de 4 et 2 ans\u00a0\u2013 Rafael a appel\u00e9 ses t\u00e9moins de mariage. \u00ab\u00a0Le jour m\u00eame, ils m\u2019ont propos\u00e9 de m\u2019accueillir chez eux et le lendemain, nous sommes all\u00e9s ensemble \u00e0 la messe.<\/i>\u00a0\u00bb Rafael se souvient que ce jour-l\u00e0, \u00e0 la sortie de l\u2019\u00e9glise, une personne est arriv\u00e9e et lui a dit\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Tiens, prend \u00e7a<\/i>.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

C\u2019\u00e9tait un chapelet. Rafael n\u2019a jamais su qui \u00e9tait cette personne et ne l\u2019a jamais plus revue depuis, mais \u00e0 partir de ce jour, il a conserv\u00e9 ce chapelet et a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 le prier tous les jours. \u00ab\u00a0C\u2019est l\u00e0 que ma conversion a commenc\u00e9. Depuis huit ans, je ne cesse de le prier\u00a0<\/i>\u00bb, affirme Rafael.<\/p>\n

Si le chapelet et sa d\u00e9votion \u00e0 Notre-Dame de Guadalupe lui ont permis de se sentir plus proche de la Vierge Marie, l\u2019Eucharistie lui a permis de faire une v\u00e9ritable rencontre avec J\u00e9sus. Depuis sa s\u00e9paration, Rafael se rend \u00e0 la messe plusieurs fois par semaine, accompagn\u00e9 parfois de ses deux enfants. \u00ab\u00a0La messe est la plus grande pri\u00e8re, elle nous change et nous fait devenir meilleurs<\/i>\u00a0\u00bb, a-t-il affirm\u00e9. Lorsque sa femme l\u2019a quitt\u00e9, elle a demand\u00e9 l\u2019annulation du mariage, mais l\u2019\u00c9glise a refus\u00e9. Elle s\u2019est ensuite remari\u00e9e civilement avec un autre homme. Quant \u00e0 Rafael, il a fait un tout autre choix. Il a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 en effet de rester fid\u00e8le au sacrement du mariage, et de rester chaste\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Depuis que je suis s\u00e9par\u00e9 et divorc\u00e9, j\u2019ai v\u00e9cu dans la chastet\u00e9.<\/i>\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

Un chemin pas toujours facile pour lui, mais il dit trouver la force aupr\u00e8s du Seigneur\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Je suis conscient de n\u2019avoir pas v\u00e9cu mon mariage de mani\u00e8re catholique, mais maintenant je reste chaste gr\u00e2ce aux sacrements.<\/i>\u00a0\u00bb Si ses deux enfants ont beaucoup souffert, Rafael ne cesse de leur expliquer que la souffrance est partie int\u00e9grante de la vie. Mais pour lui la solution est toujours le pardon\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0La souffrance doit toujours nous conduire au pardon.\u00a0Je pardonne \u00e0 ma femme tous les matins<\/i>\u00a0\u00bb, explique-t-il.<\/p>\n
